The Dinesh D’Souza pardon by President Trump was well deserved. It was a political prosecution of someone who became too prominent and too strong a voice to be tolerated by liberals. Liberals needed to muffle his free speech.
Donald Trump should nominate Vice President Joe Biden as Secretary of State. It’s a perfect fit. Biden would be an easy approval on both sides of the aisle. He’s stayed out of trouble pretty much as VP, has good foreign affairs background, and had a successful career as senator. Whether he’d take the job is a question, but I think he’d definitely consider it. This is a good choice and Trump should give him a chance.
USA Today article highlights censorship in China; meanwhile U.S. journalists run and hide from the obvious truth.
Earlier this week I found an interesting article in USA Today by Sherry Ricchiardi. Her article explained censorship in China and journalism students who are pushing the line. Ms. Ricchiari was told of China’s sophisticated online censorship operation, and how China currently imprisons 44 journalists. All the social media traffic is blocked. 50 websites and social media accounts recently were shutdown.
This hostile journalism environment in China seems to be the opposite end of the spectrum from the U. S. We of course have freedom of the press …or do we?
When President Obama is put on the spot over suspected scandals and cover-ups, our press in the U.S. seems to ignore the issues. We have Benghazi, IRS, Fast and Furious, and of course ACA Dr. Gruber. But where are the national media? The press and media not only don’t investigate fully, they help the president with the cover-up! The all just repeat whatever the White House puts out as a response no matter how ludicrous. After being on video tape 27 times (per FoxNews) saying he did not have the authority to change immigration laws, when confronted about the videos, the president just came out and lied. The same with the ACA, Gruber basically said they ALL lied because otherwise it wouldn’t have passed! But where is the U.S. mainstream media?
I really don’t understand whether the Justice Department has scared the heck out of all the journalists, or if they are just so far to the left that they are totally enamored over how the country is being transformed, and they’re simply keeping their mouths shut, or maybe something else.
This run and hide journalism of the U.S is so unfortunate in contrast to China where journalists die and are imprisoned for finding and reporting the truth. It is a disgrace.
Obama calls out failed Cuban Sanctions while placing sanctions on Russia
George Will wrote an article about the republican senator from Tennessee, Bob Corker. Mr. Will was pointing out Senator Corker’s role in foreign relations now in the new congress. Within the article, Mr. Will pointed out several international crises, which will impact Mr. Corker as chair of the Senate Foreign Relations committee. Among the crises called out were “Russia is revising European borders by force…” Mr. Will is pointing to the fact that President Obama is using economic sanctions to attempt to “modify a dictator’s behavior.” Because the thrust of his article is going in the direction of Authorization of the Use of Military Force (AUMF), Mr. Will seems to lose sight of a very important point.
While making statements trying to justify his actions revising the US relations with Cuba, the president, noted that after more than 50 years the sanctions against Cuba were a failure. So Mr. Will in calling out the economic sanctions against Russia, has identified a yet another presidential blunder. If the US sanctions failed against Cuba after more than 50 years, why does Mr. Obama think they will succeed against Russia?
They want to own ALL the political media stories until the 2016 Election
We’ve seen before how the democratic/progressive media machine can swing into action and feed the unsuspecting public the stories, perspectives, and conveniently omit the parts that would hurt their cause. We know how major stories like the Jonathan Gruber videos will be ignored by the mainstream media until it becomes so consuming, even they cannot ignore it. We’ve seen it so many times, and the blatant lies that are told without conscience, and the mainstream media refuses to hold the white house and the president accountable.
After the midterm election democratic loses, which the president simply dismissed without taking any blame, he appears to want to keep the upcoming new congress out of the media, by controlling it himself.
The president knows the media is biased, and he is going to exploit that from now until the 2016 election. So immediately following the midterm loses, he seized the dialog with the immigration reform. You’ll note that the president had spoken about giving him a bill he could sign, but then turned around and just did what he wanted to anyway.
Then the democrats released the Report on the Torture of prisoners, even though there was nothing in the report that hadn’t been public knowledge, but they took the opportunity to spin it as though it was new and that there was more to it than was told at the hearings, which there wasn’t, but of course it was the opportunity to go after republicans who they can associate with Bush and Cheney and therefore infer all republicans love torture. And the media all stepped right up there and there were stories everywhere. This was followed by Obama opening diplomatic relations with Cuba.
Then it was his year-end news conference, where he was able relax and pontificate on the answers to the rather tame questions asked. He accused Sony of letting some dictator control free speech in America. A Sony executive refuted the president’s comment that he wished they had talked to him first, saying that Sony indeed did have a dialog with the white house staff. But don’t let the truth get in the way of a good sound bite and rhetoric.
You can bet that before the state of the union address, the president will have something else. The democrats will also follow his lead by (as with the report on torture), feeding the press dirt on republicans (true or not). While the new congress may be doing big things, it will only be criticized by democrats and the media will follow the lead of the president and democrats with their spin regardless of the truth. The president and the democrats have never let the truth stand in the way of a good opportunity to throw some dirt on somebody.
Obama as a candidate in 2016 – the president’s next foray into executive orders may enrage even his ardent supporters.
We know since early in Obama’s first term, there were those who wanted Obama as president for life, mostly Obama himself. Indeed there was a bill introduced in the House to remove term limits on the office of president. Well apparently he no longer needs any act of congress to change the twenty-second amendment to the constitution which imposed term limits on the president. He will simply suspend it by executive order. He will then run as an incumbent again in the 2016 presidential campaign.
Just as no one saw the executive order on immigration coming about so swiftly, so too will be the swiftness of his term limit executive order. However, just as happened with immigration, the president will stage it to be congress’s fault. He will complain about congress, noting the next president may “damage the country”, and how important it is for him to be caretaker of the immigrants, public healthcare, foreign policy and to prevent those mean republicans from destroying all the good he’s done. Can this really happen… stay tuned.
ACA, accountable, administration, angry, current insurance plan, deception, democrats, erroneous, false, healthcare premiums, lies, mainstream media, media, Obamacare, outraged, polls, President Obama, press
President Obama has been given pass after pass on scandals that have piled high. Now it seems, as predicted by many experts and yes, even republicans, (though denied emphatically by ALL democrats) the ACA is indeed the disaster that was forecast.
President Obama is on record in a nearly unprecedented number of video clips stating, “your healthcare premiums will be lower”, and “you’ll be able to keep your current insurance plan”.
These statements are now proven to be absolutely false. So the first question is, did the president intentionally lie to the American people? If that answer is no, how can he possibly justify his erroneous statements? Of course he didn’t read the entire law himself, but how could his staff, advisers and his democratic colleagues in the congress, possibly allow him to stand up in front of audiences across the country and tell these blatant lies?
Americans are now so outraged, even the press can’t ignore the lies. Yes…, the “mainstream media” is indeed reporting about the falsehoods broadcast by the president, his administration and democratic colleagues. So the next question becomes, who will be held accountable?
Will the media give the president yet another pass? Even given the failure of the scale of the ACA, and given false information that was just dumped on the American public in order to gain passage without having to tell the truth about anything about it. They lied about the plans, the costs for the plans, the costs to taxpayers above and beyond the premiums, there really doesn’t seem to be anything that wasn’t lied about or if not outright lied about, smoothed over to camouflage the truth.
It will be interesting as the outrage in America grows, whether the media will allow themselves to hold the president accountable, or if the taxpayers, middle class Americans, constituents, all those of us severely injured by the lies and deception, will be angry enough to hold the democrats accountable at the polls. It will be very interesting if either of those can happen.
"punish" a large population, abuses, administration, C.A. Morris Institute, gun, gun control, gun control legislation, gun ownership, laws, Morris Institute, NRA, policies, punish everyone, regulations, showdown, state representatives, The C.A. Morris Institute
We are seeing the expected push by the administration to initiate gun control legislation. It is also apparent that in order to convince the masses that this is something we all want, the media continues to keep the subject alive through every available resource. You’ll see in newspapers and on TV news that gun control is desired by the majority of Americans. You’ll see the NRA and their supporters condemned. Once again the media is dictating the dialog and position that Americans should take because that is what THEY want and THEY think America needs.
In an effort to avoid the appearance of support on either side, I’ll try to illustrate how the institute can intelligently provide guidance and avoid the ugly showdown that the media wants. First, let me say that it is so unfortunate that the tragic incident at Sandy Hook Elementary School should be the springboard for the media to launch a new campaign for gun control. It is our sincere hope that a needed meaningful dialog rather than a hysterical media frenzy will come from this horrific incident.
To provide some perspective I cite how business, industry and government all take the easy way out. It is easier to punish everyone, including the innocent, rather than doing the hard work to find the answer that punishes only the guilty. A simple example is where there are a series of car accidents involving 16 year old drivers. The outcome is new restrictions on all 16 year old drivers. So we are punishing innocent 16 year old drivers for the carelessness of two or three. We did this because it was easy. we see this repeatedly in many laws, regulations and policies.
In business and industry we frequently see the actions or abuses of a few employees result in new policies and restrictions on all employees. Again, punishing the innocent for the actions of a few. So the question here becomes, why will the action of a single individual result in legislation that can effectively “punish” a large population who have done nothing wrong?
Herein lies the answer to why a federal law is totally wrong. The “punishment” is imposed onto all states. At a minimum, it should be recognized that the issue should be resolved at the state level. Already there are various restrictions on gun ownership in individual states. That is how it should be handled. The citizens of the states, the constituents, must let their state representatives know their views. Then the state representatives can take appropriate action. It is far more likely that the true sentiment of the state constituency will be heard in the statehouses rather than a national media blitz directing the dialog and effectively controlling discussion and our U.S. congressional representatives espousing their “special interest” and PAC agendas.
The administration should keep out of it, the U.S. Congress should keep out of it. If the groundswell of support for control is really there, it will emerge and can be handled at the state level. However, the legislation introduced must be crafted in a manner that punishes only the guilty and not the innocent.
